20 Years of ACCESS: Celebrating Our Past, Caring for Nevada’s Future

For two decades, ACCESS has helped Nevadans overcome barriers to healthcare and essential resources. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re honoring how far we’ve come and looking ahead to all that’s still possible.

For 20 years, ACCESS to Healthcare Network has been driven by one simple belief: everyone deserves access to the care and resources they need to live a healthier life.

Since opening our doors in 2006, ACCESS has grown from an idea into a statewide nonprofit serving communities across Nevada. Over the past two decades, we have helped connect more than 100,000 Nevadans to healthcare, resources, education and support.

But our 20th anniversary isn’t only about looking back. It’s about celebrating how far we’ve come and continuing the work that started it all.

20 Years of Making Healthcare More Accessible

Healthcare can be complicated and expensive, especially for individuals and families who are uninsured or underinsured. ACCESS was created to help bridge that gap. Through ACCESS Health Network, our nonprofit health access plan, members can connect with a statewide network of more than 2,000 doctors, specialists and hospitals while receiving significant discounts on healthcare services. Today, ACCESS continues to help approximately 25,000 Nevadans each year through our programs, services and community partnerships. And healthcare access is only part of our story.

Growing to Meet the Needs of Our Community

Over the years, ACCESS has continued to evolve as the needs of Nevada communities have changed. Our programs and services now extend beyond connecting people with affordable healthcare. We help individuals and families navigate important health and everyday needs through services including:

  • ACCESS Health Network of Nevada – Helping uninsured and underinsured Nevadans access more affordable healthcare.
  • ACCESS Community Resource Line – Connects Nevadans to ACCESS programs, healthcare assistance, eligibility support, and essential community resources.
  • ACCESS Cancer Care Network – Helps uninsured and underinsured Nevadans access cancer prevention, screenings, treatment assistance, care coordination, and survivorship support.
  • ACCESS Women’s & Children’s Health – Supports women, children, and families with screenings, prenatal and maternal health services, education, and care coordination.
  • ACCESS Senior Services – Helps older adults and individuals with disabilities maintain independence through Medicare counseling, case management, caregiver support, benefits navigation, and community-based services.
  • ACCESS Transport Center of Nevada – Provides coordinated, non-emergency transportation to help Nevadans access healthcare and other essential services.
  • ACCESS HIV Services – Connects individuals to HIV testing, treatment, Ryan White and HOPWA services, case management, and ongoing health and social support.
  • ACCESS Nutrition Center – Promotes healthier lives through nutrition counseling, chronic disease education, prevention programs, cooking classes, and access to nutritious food.

Each program may serve a different need, but they all share the same purpose: removing barriers that can stand between Nevadans and healthier lives.

Twenty years of impact would not have been possible without the people who believed in our mission. Our dedicated employees, healthcare providers, board members, volunteers, donors, funders and community partners have helped ACCESS grow into the organization it is today.

From hospitals and healthcare professionals who open their doors to our members to organizations that invest in food access, transportation, prevention and education, our partners have shown what is possible when a community works together. And most importantly, we are grateful to the thousands of Nevadans who have trusted ACCESS to be part of their healthcare journey.

A lot has changed since 2006, but our commitment has not. As ACCESS celebrates its 20th anniversary, we remain focused on what comes next: strengthening our programs, building new partnerships, reaching more communities and finding innovative ways to make healthcare and essential resources more accessible throughout Nevada.

Twenty years is an incredible milestone, but we’re not done.

We will continue showing up for our members.
We will continue breaking down barriers to care.
We will continue building healthier communities.
And we will continue working toward a Nevada where everyone has the opportunity to access the care and support they need.
