20 Years of ACCESS: Celebrating Our Past, Caring for Nevada’s Future

For two decades, ACCESS has helped Nevadans overcome barriers to healthcare and essential resources. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re honoring how far we’ve come and looking ahead to all that’s still possible.

For 20 years, ACCESS to Healthcare Network has been guided by one simple belief: everyone deserves access to the care and resources they need to live a healthier life.

Since opening our doors in 2006, we’ve grown from a small idea into a statewide nonprofit serving Nevadans in communities across the state. Along the way, we’ve helped connect more than 100,000 Nevadans to healthcare, resources, education and support.

But when we think about 20 years of ACCESS, we don’t just think about numbers.

We think about people.

We think about the families who found a doctor when they didn’t know where to turn. The older adults who got help navigating Medicare. The person who finally received a cancer screening. The member who had a ride to an important appointment. The family who found food and other resources when they needed a little extra help.

That’s what ACCESS is all about.

20 Years of Making Healthcare More Accessible

Healthcare can be confusing, expensive and sometimes difficult to navigate. For people who are uninsured or underinsured, those challenges can feel even bigger. That’s why ACCESS was created to help make getting care a little easier. Through ACCESS Health Network, our nonprofit health access plan, members can connect with a statewide network of more than 2,000 doctors, specialists and hospitals and receive significant discounts on healthcare services.

Today, ACCESS helps approximately 25,000 Nevadans each year through our programs, services and partnerships. Over the years, we’ve learned that helping people access healthcare often means helping with much more than healthcare.

Growing to Meet the Needs of Our Community

As Nevada has grown and the needs of our communities have changed, ACCESS has grown too. Today, our team helps Nevadans with healthcare, transportation, food, benefits, education, cancer support and so much more.

  • ACCESS Health Network of Nevada – Helping uninsured and underinsured Nevadans access more affordable healthcare.
  • ACCESS Community Resource Line – Connects Nevadans to ACCESS programs, healthcare assistance, eligibility support, and essential community resources.
  • ACCESS Cancer Care Network – Helps uninsured and underinsured Nevadans access cancer prevention, screenings, treatment assistance, care coordination, and survivorship support.
  • ACCESS Women’s & Children’s Health – Supports women, children, and families with screenings, prenatal and maternal health services, education, and care coordination.
  • ACCESS Senior Services – Helps older adults and individuals with disabilities maintain independence through Medicare counseling, case management, caregiver support, benefits navigation, and community-based services.
  • ACCESS Transport Center of Nevada – Provides coordinated, non-emergency transportation to help Nevadans access healthcare and other essential services.
  • ACCESS HIV Services – Connects individuals to HIV testing, treatment, Ryan White and HOPWA services, case management, and ongoing health and social support.
  • ACCESS Nutrition Center – Promotes healthier lives through nutrition counseling, chronic disease education, prevention programs, cooking classes, and access to nutritious food.

While each program looks a little different, they all have something in common: We’re here to help remove the barriers that make it harder for people to take care of themselves and their families.

It Takes a Village

We couldn’t have reached this milestone alone. For 20 years, ACCESS has been surrounded by people who believe in what we do: our employees, volunteers, healthcare providers, board members, donors, funders, and community partners.

Some have opened their doors to our members. Some have helped fund programs. Some have donated food, resources, or their time. Others have simply connected someone to ACCESS when they needed help.

Each connection makes a difference.

20 Years Down. And We’re Just Getting Started.

A lot has changed since 2006.

Nevada has changed. Our communities have changed. ACCESS has changed.

But one thing hasn’t changed:

We’re still here.

We’re still showing up for our members.

We’re still answering the phone.

We’re still helping people find a doctor, get a ride, navigate their benefits, access healthy food or find the resources they need.

And we’re still looking for new ways to serve our communities.

Twenty years is something worth celebrating and we absolutely are. ❤️

But for us, this anniversary isn’t just about looking back.

It’s about looking ahead.

People still need help. Barriers still need to be broken down. There are still communities to reach. There is still so much work to do. So, here’s to 20 years of ACCESS, to the people we’ve served, the partnerships we’ve built, the lessons we’ve learned and the many more lives we hope to touch in the years ahead.
