A free program developed for individuals who have been diagnosed with a dementia-related condition, or who think they might be. This program is designed to discuss and learn about dementia, misconceptions, communication strategies, and various other topics with others who are experiencing similar changes. You’re invited to become a Dementia Friend! At this information session, you will learn six key messages about dementia, what it’s like to live with dementia, and how to translate this new understanding into practical actions that can help people with dementia who are living in our community. A free 3-hour training designed to equip First Responders with essential knowledge about dementia, practical skills for engaging compassionately with individuals affected by it, and awareness of valuable local and state resources. This program explores what it takes to become a DEER Care Partner within the context of dementia care and support, including skilled nursing, dementia care, and assisted living, as well as home-based care and support. This training encourages care partners to view each person as a unique individual but also challenges care partners to consider how their personal views and beliefs may impact the care and support, they provide.
